Away cup match
We made our travels to Santry this morning to face AUL side Woodlawn FC in the 2nd round if the Leinster Junior Shield. A few changes made seen Callum Lynch move into midfield and Cian Archbold come in for Evan Spencer. A good start to the game saw Rory O'Connor race onto Conor O'Neills through ball and he failed to take his chance as the keeper got down well to his right to deny the striker a goal. Good spells of possession by both sides with the hosts having the majority of it but not really testing Matthew Wade in goal or putting Loughshinnys defense under much pressure. Loughshinny made the breakthrough when Cian Ensor ran onto a clipped ball over the top by David Kenny and guide a super volley into the far top corner. It was 2-0 a few minutes later as some good work down the left between Ensor and O'Neill ended with O'Neill finding O'Connor and he swivled and fired a shot into the bottom corner. 2-0 HT.
Loughshinny managed the game very well in the 2nd half and the backline stood firm and made some good tackles and Interceptions to deny Woodlawn a way back into the game. The tie was sealed then when substitute Evan Spencer found the top corner with a sumptuous strike from all of 30 yards, outside of the right foot whichever arrowed over the keepers hand and into the top corner. Man of the match Conor O'Neill tireless display in the midfield today with some great hold up play throughout the game
