Home league match

Loughshinny continued their unbeaten run of the year with a emphatic 6-1 victory over rock bottom Whitehall Rangers. Truth be told the scoreline was very flattering on the visitors as Loughshhlinny spurned a number of big chances. David Kenny had a niggle in the warm up and Conor O'Neill who was being rested today as he was carrying a knock came in to replace him before the match started. After a bright start from the hosts it was 1-0 When a ball forward was knocked back into the midfield by a Whitehall defender and Callum Lynch unleashed a super strike to smash home from 30 yards into the top corner giving the keeper zero chance in goal. Less than 1 minute later the visitors where back on Level terms when the Whitehall midfield found space from a throw in was able to turn and release the striker who dinked the ball over Jason Donohue in goal toady deputising for Matthew Wade in goal. Loughshinnh raised the game again and came close when Cian Ensor got by his full back but smashed a cross in very firmly and O'Connor who tried to get something on it cushioned it just wide. Same combination again and this time a super cross from Ensor was just missed by the outstretched right foot of O'Connor. The lead was restored when O'Connor closed down the Whitehall keeper who's clearance was blocked by the striker who then took it passed the keeper who fouled him. Keeper very very lucky not to see red as there was no attempt to play the b8all. O'Connor stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. It was 3-1 not long after when Mark Fagan back into the starting line up after a few months on the sidelines long clearance found the great run of Ross Connell who buried it on the half volley over the keeper with a super strike. A couple of chances before the half O'Connor and Evan Spencer going close and Ensor wasting a great 1v1 opportunity after some super play. HT 3-1.

2nd half started the wat the 1st ended with Loughshinny pressing for more goal and playing super football with O'Neill, Lynch and Spencer playing great stuff in the middle. Loughshinny made it 4-1 when Spencer was fouled and Ensor stepped up to take the free from out wide and his cross evaded everyone and found the corner of the goal. Not long after that O'Connor was found by Connell in the box from a cross and he took it down beat his man and slotted it home to make it 5-1. He then completed his hat trick a few minuted later when Spencer turned in the middle and played a delightful ball in to find O'Connor who played it past the keeper. A few more chances wasted after that with O'Connor blazing over and Spencer shooting wide and O'Neill missing from 6 yards out when having loads of time blazed over aswell. Evan Spencer shud have won 2 penalties aswell when fould twice in the box but the referee didn't give them. A great all round performance from the team today and back to winning ways.
