Loughshinny Fail To Make Chances Pay

Loughshinny were looking to restart the new year with a victory against local rivals Rush Athletic at home but didn't start great and Rush tool the lead on 10 minutes when a long hopeful ball caught out the Loughshinny defence and the Rush player dinked over the onrushing Wade in goal to give Rush the lead. Loughshinny woke up then and started playing and pressing and equalised on the half hour mark when Cian Ensor crossed from deep and put an inch perfect pass on O'Connor's head and he buried it into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Loughshinny pressed for a 2nd before the break and final ball was letting them down. HT 1-1

Same story start of the 2nd half loughshinng probing and pressing for the 2nd and go it shortly after the break when the ball broke to Ensor 20 yards and he cut across the ball sweetly with the outside of the left and smashed his effort into the bottom corner. Loughshinny pushed again and had Rush pinned back and so many opportunities with overloads but final ball again being the killer and wrong options being taken. Rush then started pushing in the last 10 and after a spurt of 3 corners in quick succession they got an equaliser after a scramble in the box. Wade produced a wonderful save late on to make sure Loughshinny then got a point clawing an effort from the Rush full back out of the top corner. Honours even in the end Loughshinny will feel it should have been 3 points.
