Loughshinny made the journey to Edenderry to face Derry Rovers in a top of the table clash on Friday night. A great crowd were in attendance as they looked to spur on the home team in an effort to beat the table toppers Loughshinny. Barely 1 minute had passed when the fans wer celebrating a goal when Derry broke through down the left side after switching the play from the right early and Cameron Solheim who came in at right back this evening for the sick Ryan Fagan got a taste for LSL football and his winger rounded him before firing a shot beyond Matthew Wade in goal to give the hosts the lead. Derry were up for the game every player was working hard and putting a shift in and Loughshinny hadn't started well at all. The visitors got a chance when a ball back to the keeper was badly shepherded back to the keeper by the centre half and Rory O'Connor pounced in between them but on the stretch and after a pull back he couldnt get the contact he wanted to lift it over the keeper but still forced the keeper to make a save. Loughshinny started upping it a bit and nearly found themselves level only for the keeper to make a brilliant save from Conor O'Neills super strike from 12 yards. Mark Delves had a chance from a Evan Spencer corner but found himself flat footed and not expecting the ball which led to a tame effort on goal in what was a great chance. On 43 minutes the hosts doubled the lead fortuitously when the striker ran in on Wade and lifted it over him but Callum Lynch got back and had the ball under control before it reached the line. The ref who was 40 yards away deemed the ball had crossed the line but it was a had decision as the ball was a yard away from the goal line. HT 2-0.

Loughshinng really moved through the gears at the start of the 2nd half and had 15 minutes of pure domination and the hosts could not live with it. Ensor was marauding down the left side and roasting the Derry right full. The final ball was letting Loughshinny down. Spencer was working hard and getting stuck in and getting more into the game. A few times was cut down trying to break from midfield. Ensor had 1 or 2 efforts and Delves again but Loughshinny couldn't make the breakthrough. Colum Wilde came on and got on the end of a Josh Hughes cross but could keep his effort down. Our first dropped points of the season but we were matched by a good side who just wanted it more on the night. We look forward to playing Derry Rovers again at home in the new year. Next up its a trip to Wexford to play Camolin Celtic in the Leinster Junior Shield
