Away league match
Having only played Celbridge 3 weeks prior to today's game Loughshinny knew what to expect from the opposition today and made the perfect start when Evan Spencer and Cian Ensor caught Celbridge napping and played a short corner, Ensor whipped in a great cross which went through to the back post where Rory O'Connor was waiting to stoop for a diving header to put Loughshinny 1-0 up. Loughshinny failed to create many openings in the first half and there seemed a lack of intensity off the ball and a lack of tempo on it. Bit of bad defending but good celbridge play ended up with a one on one with Matthew Wade being beaten low to his right to make it 1-1. It was soon 2-1 to the hosts when Wade was caught on the ball and his attempted clearance was closed down by the Celbridge attacker and it fell kindly for him to put them 2-1 up. Celbridge went looking for a 3rd before half time but a corner cleared out to Spencer and he lofted a ball into O'Connor path who ran in on goal and held his defender off before slotting low to the keepers right to make it 2-2. Loughshinny wer given the hairdryer treatment at half time and lifted the tempo in the 2nd half and went 3-2 up when O'Connor gambled on a long kick from Wade which the defender grazed header into his path and he rounded the goalkeeper and finished well from a narrow angle. It was 4-2 shortly after when Kenny linked up well with Ensor and he beat his man and smashed a low shot which evaded the keeper and nestled into the net. Loughshinnh pushed on and looked like more goals would come. O'Neill missing an opportunity 30 seconds before Celbridge pulled one back when a bit of miscommunication and poor play led to Celbridge capalitilising and their forward pounced to fire past Wade. This put Loughshinny on the back foot and it was soon 4-4 when Ensor played a blind pass back to Wade in goal leaving it short and the Celbridge attacker latched onto it and rounded Wade and put it in. Loughshinny knew they'd get 1 more chance and probbed an opening and O'Neill played O'Connor in and he beat his man an squeezed a low shot into the far corner to win the game with the last kick of the game. A great win under the circumstances but Loughshinny will feel the game should have been wrapped up much earlier. Another 3 points and 8 from 8 in the league
