Away league match

A cold and windy ballyfermot for our game today and it got off to a bad start when Rory O'Connor was dispossessed in the midfield and a quick Ballyfermot United counter resulted in the Ballyfermot striker beating Matthew Wade with a tidy finish after a 1v1. Cian Ensor was causing havoc early on and had a few decent crosses cut out as Ballyfermot looked to contain any Loughshinny attack. Loughshinny probed and grew into the game after a sluggish start and drew level when Ensor released O'Connor who ran in on goal and fired in off the post to equalise. Lougshinny had a free kick soon after which Ensor whipped in to find the head of O'Connor who lost his man and guid3d it into the corner to give the visitors the lead. Some fantastic link up play between Ross Connell, Lynch and David Kenny in the midfield during the first half. O'Connor then took on the right full a beat him which the defender had no option but to bring him down which made the ref eventually go to his pocket for persistent fouling and from the resulting free kick it was the same combination again, Ensor found O'Connor who headed in his and Loughshinnys third. It should have been 4-1 when Conor O'Neill got into the box and showed great awareness and back heeled the ball into O'Connors path but the striker blazed over. Callum Lynch relieved a yellow from a strong tackle which left the Ballyfermot player needing attention. HT 1-3. Evan Spencer came on at half time for Connell and a few minutes later Ensor was replaced With Jason Donohue making his debut for the club. He got straight into the action and after a strong tackle had a clash with the ballyfermot player and was carded. It was 4-1 when a long clearnace from Wade found the head of O'Neill and his flick on found O'Connor who smashed past the keeper. O'Connor should have had his 5th when he skinned his defender but the keeper made a great save tipping his effort onto the post. A bizzare and rare goal occurred when a Loughshinny attack the ball breaking to Ryan Fagan who tackled his man and the ball flew up and over the keepers head much to the delight of Fagan who celebrated with great passion. The last goal came when a great move down the right Solheim, Spencer, Lynch and Kenny all involved and Kenny pass a square ball to O'Connor who had the simplest task of tapping in to score his 5th of the day and 26th of the season.
