vs Baldoyle United

Home league match

Loughshinny started their first home game of the season with a 6-3 demolition of Baldoyle United who had beaten Rush Athletic 2-0 in their last game. A few changes had been made to the Loughshinny starting 11 to get minutes into players legs as a result of having no real pre season matches. Baldoyle started fast and looked like they could cause Loughshinny problems early on and took the lead on 17 minutes after the ref had given a free kick out wide. The cross came in a bounced in the 6 yard box upto the striker who nodded in to give baldoyle a deserved lead at the time. Loughshinny would feel the could have dealt with the cross that came in. The game then evened out with loughshinny creating a few chances and it was on 32 minutes when they equalised, the ball had come upto Rory O'Connor who took it down tried to turn a shoot but was blocked by the Baldoyle defender, it then fell and O'Connor laid it back for Evan Spencer to run onto it and bend it beautifully into the right corner of the goal leaving the keeper no chance. HT 1-1

The 2nd half started and Lougshinny came out like a different team and really upped the tempo and started causing Baldoyle all sorts of issues. They took the lead on 50 mins when a long ball upto O'Connor was taken down well, he then was able to turn and seen Ross Connell making a super run down the right hand side, he played a pass between 2 defenders and Connell crossed the ball brilliantly to Mark Delves who was steaming in at the back post to header into the goal. It was soon 3-1 on 56 minutes when Lougshinny won a foul on the right side of the box and Colum Wilde found O'Connor's head 6 yards out to put it beyond the keeper.

An assist which was a common occurrence in days of old .O'Connor then ran at the defence and was upended in the box. He then stepped up himself to send the keeper the wrong way and make it 4-1 with 61 minutes played. 5 minutes later it was 5 and a hat trick for O'Connor as a good run from Conor O'Neill through the middle caused problems for Baldoyle and his through ball for O'Connor split the defense there was definitely a question of offside but the ref didn't believe it was and allowed play to continue and one on one no mistake was made. Evan Spencer got his 2nd when the defender appeared to kick the ball of him and it flew past the keeper and into the goal. Loughshinny 6-1 up made some changes but the goalkeeper Matthew Wade who played brilliantly against Rush 2 weeks prior made a couple of unforced errors which allowed Baldoyle to pull 2 goals back in quick succession which completely flattered them in the end. Tempers did flair towards the end with Wade getting involved with the Baldoyle front man which the ref brandished a yellow card a piece. Good performance from Loughshinny to make it 2 wins from 2. Next up Rivervalley Rangers at home for a top of the table clash.
