A reversed fixture to be back at Beaumont today for the Blues owing to the weather proof Astro and the torrential rain all week. We have had a bit of sickness this week with three off for training and we are still without our usual goalie today - get well soon Jonas.
A slow start is an understatement. Our first 5 minutes went badly with our new goalie settling in and a deflections and goalmouth scrambles resulted with Northwood going 3 up. Colts did have a number of chances in that time but they just didn’t translate into goals.
6 min ????????0-3??
Cian ditched the sun cap which was distracting him more than the sun and from there the goalkeeping got great. With some brilliant distributions out from goal too.
Proud to say the boys kept their heads up and it wasn’t long before Henry won the ball from a defender to score with another long distance shot (3 games in a row) outside the box over the defender and goalies heads.
??Henry 13 mins ??1-3??
Northwood came back strong and scored again followed by another own goal against us when defending the goal against a lot of pressure. It was hard to watch as being silent week we couldn’t do much to encourage the boys from the sidelines.
????20 mins ??1-5??
Alby quickly looked to put that right before half time he got past a defender entered the box and the goalie went the wrong way expecting the right foot but of course Alby got his fantastic left on it and struck the ball straight into the corner of the goal- within a minute we were back in the game.
??Alby 21 mins ??2-5??
There were chances for both sides in the remaining minutes of the first half but we defended well and Cian made some great saves.
HT: ??2-5??
The Colts came out fighting and they still had their heads in the game to keep their winning streak going. Our next goal came when Oscar had a shot at goal from a super Alby through ball that was saved but in the scramble with Oscar trying for a follow up he forced a Northwood player into own goal.
??32 mins OG ??3-5??
The colts dominated the 2nd half creating lots more chances, hitting the post, super saves and defended well throughout. Alas there were no more goals and although it looked like we could equalise the game didn’t go that way.
Full time: ??3-5??
Man of the match Alby,
Trainer of the week Cian.
Overall so much to be proud of this week with the boys never once losing their eye on the prize, some great goal keeping by Cian and thank you for stepping up to the job and some excellent play.
Lots to learn but overall we won one quarter, drew two quarters and unfortunately lost the match due to a really poor first quarter. A well played match Colts although not the result you deserve
