An early start in the heat for the Colts under 9 blues to make their debut for the new 23/24 season.

The team sporting new kits are moving from a 5 aside to 7 aside, bigger pitch, longer game. So lots of changes for our boys to get used to. With the bigger team we also have lots of new players with Kristian is now our official coach with Paul also joining him.

Even with the 9:50 kick of temperatures were in the high 20s and no cloud coverage today.

For the start of the match the Colts dominated play and possession. There were multiple attempts on goal by Oscar, Elliot, Ziyad and Alby. At 10 minutes an attempt by Oscar rebounded off a defender and Henry scored the first goal of the season booting it firmly into the back of the net. 1-0.

At 12 minutes the blues got a free kick to the right of the goal but it went a little wide given the right angle. A well needed water break was taken.

The boys restarted and for the first few minutes dominated again with several attempts. At 16 mins Arthur made a nice throw in to Ziyad who crossed it in, the goalie made an attempt to get a grip of it but it rebounded and Sufyan scored his first Colts goal. 2-0.

There followed an attempt to recover by the reds but the Colts got possession again as Oscar ran up flanked by some reds. At 18 mins Oscar scored his debut goal for the team. 3-0.

At 19 mins the reds rallied. Our goalie came out but the reds got round him and scored. 3-1

At 22 mins the reds continued to press up and there was some great defending from Arthur.

Half time score 3-1.

Kick off and there was possession on both sides. At 29 mins the reds had a good attempt at goal saved by Jonas.

Reds continued to attack for a further few minutes and there was good defending and saves from Jonas. On the rebound from the reds attack at 31 minutes Henry got the ball and ran up, he’s fast and hard to catch and translated this nicely to a goal 4-1.

At 35 minutes the boys took another water break as the sun continued to beat down on the team.

The final part of the match saw a rapid succession of goals for the Colts.

39 minutes Oscar got another goal for the Colts. 5-1. The reds had another attempt to get on the attack and there was some good clearances by Sufyan.

There was another good save from Jonas. Then at 49 mins George got his debut goal for the Colts finishing the score at 9-1.

Full time?? Colts 9 - 1 Tigers ??

A great first match for the Colts under 9 blues, not every match will go so well but it was a boost for them to start the season with a resounding win. The celebrated with some much needed ice lollies.
