The Leaze Push To Victory

A fine warm Sunny afternoon the Leaze machine turns up to our opponents Nicholas Wanderers A. With our hopes high we kick off and in the first 10 minutes we were under pressure from a decent wanderers team but then a beam of light descended on to the pitch and our boys start to play the ball around. OMG !!! it was amazing to watch and had the wanderers unable to take the ball away due to our quick and mostly accurate passing. With several fouls by our opponents just outside the 18 yard box we were never able to capitalize and the shots go over or wide of the post. Then 15 minutes from half time Nicholas Wanderers score from out of nothing really, but heads held high our boys get back to doing the job in hand and with just a few minutes to go a great cross and Gonzalo squeezes the ball home to make it 1-1. I had to think fast and Half Time arrives and out come the Jaffa Cakes. Watered and Refreshed after a constructive team natter we kick off again. We were in total control of the game, but one lack of concentration saw Wanderers score again 2-1. But then a weird thing happened, wanderers make a substitution and an almighty row broke out between some of their players. The boys were going for a goal by every way they could, shots from free kicks not quite making the mark and i even saw a kitchen sink thrown in for good measure. But this was not really needed as 7 minutes from time our Newbie Freddie Ansell latches onto a lose ball and with venom shoots from 20 yards out looping over a stranded keeper and into the net. So Final whistle and onto penalties. We all lined up on the centre line and the first penalty is taken by Wanderers. And Super Dooper Jake Lawrence makes a diving save to deny the goal. With every goal scored by our weary troops it was down to another Newbie Zedan Saadi to make his contribution. He places the ball and takes two steps back and then wait for it, Wait For It. For gods sake hit the bloody ball. In he goes and GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. You would have thought we had won the Cup. But my god what a massive improvement. So Pleased and Proud of every single one of you.
