Hibs Fall Short

This game came after yet another 1 month break since the last match so we carried little momentum into the game and were lacking in confidence having only secured 1 point out of the last 6 in the league.

We started with some good application in the midfield, especially by Dan who was showing great tenacity. Beau made a great clearance on the goal line – the start of an overall very good game by Beau – but minutes late Whitley took the lead with a long range effort. This was matched minutes later by a solo effort from Tariq rounded off with a very good strike. A fluke of a goal by Whitley gave them the lead back before half time but overall it was a good physical battle between the teams with little to choose, Whitley clearly up for revenging their heavy defeat earlier in the season.

The game remained a close physical battle in the second half and only a great save by the Whitley keeper prevented Jayden equalising. Apart from this effort however we created very little going forward in the half, a final ball of any quality always seemed to be missing. Whitley further extended their lead after 62 minutes and the lads fight and believe rapidly ebbed away at this point, leading to us conceding two further goals in the latter end of the game. Whitley running out 5 – 1 winners.

We are a team who is now low on confidence and that shows clearly in our quality on the field. Only commitment and application from the lads can turn this around, all teams have bad spells and ours will come to an end sooner rather than later if the lads remain committed.
