Winning Run Comes To An End

<p> Our five game winning run in the league came to an end when we slipped to a really unlucky 2-1 defeat at St Edmunds today . We done enough during the game to get at least a draw but, as some times happens in football, it wasn't to be.

<p> The opening ten minutes were pretty cagey with both teams trying to get a foothold in the game. Chances at both ends then began to come. One of our chances came after one of Bens trademark runs down the left ended with him putting Charlie in whose powerful strike fizzed inches over the bar. The hosts opened the scoring on twenty minutes whose striker was allowed to turn inside the box before he fired home off the foot of the far post. The game was now end to end but both defences kept any clear openings to a minimum. Half time came with St Edmunds maintaining their one goal advantage.

<p> We started the second half well with most of the game being played in the hosts half with us pushing hard for an equaliser. Mid-way through the second half disaster struck when a throw in was allowed to bounce into our box and a defensive mix-up allowed the hosts an easy tap in to double their advantage.

<p> We now had a bit of a mountain to climb but we reacted well to the set back and six minutes later we were right back in it when the ball was half cleared to Zaz who produced a great volleyed finish to make the score 2-1. We now really had our tails up as we continued to dominate the rest of the half as further chances came but a combination of good goalkeeping and bad luck kept the score the same.

<p> A dissapointing result but a good performance all round in a game that we definitely deserved to get something out of.
