A first half Kaleb Sweeney hat-trick set us on our way to bounce back from the disappointment of last Sundays defeat and claim another 3 points in pursuit of breaking into the top 3. The opening 24 minutes was very impressive and Forefield struggled to cope with our attacking play and superb set pieces. Sweeney's first was a header after just 2 minutes supplied by a Zico Williams corner and 9 minutes later he was first to react tapping in the rebound from a George Walker free kick.
Jude Carroll was forced to withdraw with a back problem and was replaced by Samson Aboiro who slotted in at left back with Sam O’Neill having been given a start at right back. It unsettled our play slightly and Rangers hit one back with a direct free kick that was misjudged by Joe Wilson. We found ourselves under a barrage of pressure which required a Paddy Clegg headed clearance off the line followed by Sam O'Neill diverting a wicked cross away with his head which on another day could have found it's way into the net. Just before the break however we restored our two goal lead when Sweeney chased down the goalkeeper who's clearance left him with an empty net to slot home to complete his first hat-trick for the club.
George Walker was impressing having been handed a start in a defensive midfield role in place of Anthony Cooke who was another player rotated after a run of games clocking up a lot of minutes. Walker scored his first goal for the club tapping home a deflected Dan Edge free kick and Cooke made no mistake from the spot after Gift Sibanda was hacked down in the box. The icing on the cake however was a debut goal for our new number 9 Charlie Hacking with a bullet header from another superb Zico Williams corner.
Given Forefield's recent good form it was imperative that we didn't slip up today and with 7 league games remaining there's still very much a lot to play for.
