L4 Hit Double Figures At Breckside

Alex McDonald's six goals will make the headlines but there was plenty more to shout about as we showed the perfect response to last weeks cup exit. Yet again down to the bare bones we showed great character and put in an excellent team performance. McDonald's overall play was sublime, his finishing ruthless and he certainly had a point to prove after being left out of the starting XI last week. January signing Joe Mbrimi made his debut alongside a midfield 3 of Devlin and Clegg and he got off the a dream start with our opening goal in the 24th minute. Mbrimi reacted quickest in the penalty box when Rainhill failed to clear a corner and his effort nearly took the net off. Charlie Hacking got in on the act with a well taken goal and Gift Sibanda made no mistake again from the penalty spot with his trademark shuffle. It was our number 11's 91st appearance and the spot kick was his 91st goal giving him a goal per game ration and now just 9 away from joining the 100 club. Surely this is a target he's likely to reach and surpass very soon however in McDonald we have another forward who has sharpened his shooting boots and hopefully this will be the spring board for him to hitting a rich vein of form.
