Rovers Hit For Four As 100% Record Stays Intact

Our 100% winning start to the season was maintained however we certainly had to dig this result out as Woolton Rovers put up a hardworking performance in what was our toughest game so far. Our opponents set up to nullify our attacking threat and had a game plan to play on the counter attack and only for poor finishing they could have taken something on the day. On more than one occasion they got in behind our high line and felt they could cause problems down the right channel. James Boner kept his impressive start to the season going though and defended excellently. The deadlock was broken in the 11th minute when Gift Sibanda's through ball found it's way to Charlie Hacking who drove into the box and dispatched a lethal right foot finish. Kaleb Sweeney's superb left foot curler would have been up there already for a "Goal of the Season" contender only for his effort to crash off the crossbar just before half time.

We took a bit more control of the game in the second period however with a slender lead Woolton were always in the game. Substitute Ethan Danku gave us daylight with a superb finish before Hacking added a 3rd when Zico Williams played in a precise through ball. The points were well and truly in the bag when Sweeney opened his account for the season heading in a rebounded shot in the last 5 minutes.
