Home league match

After a few unfortunate results the lads came into the weekend knowing the importance of this match against a beatable side in PSG with our last encounter ending in a draw earlier this season.

With the pitch starting to show some serious wear and tear and the bench bare, the boys knew the next 90 mins was going to require some serious mahi!

The game started off with both teams getting a feel for the conditions of the pitch and quickly realising that keeping the ball on the ground would be difficult ask. There were some big early challenges, most notably Goran getting in the mix of a killer 50/50! unfortunately the result of this tackle left G with a rather painful back injury but with no one to call on, the socks wear quickly pulled up and the deep heat requested! Goran battles on!

The remainder of the first half had both teams coming close with KFC putting a chance wide from one of Robbie’s devastating long throw’s, on the other end PSG had a few chances however having Manuel Neuer (Blair) between the sticks proved essential as he made some outstanding saves to keep us in the game!

The second half started similar to the first with both teams knocking on the door however finding that final ball was proving difficult, PSG broke the deadlock with a cross from out wide finding it’s way into the danger zone 1-0.

With not long to go KFC tried to get going and started to push the team higher up the pitch however with the bench bare and the lads drained from a big shift PSG caught us on the counter to make it 2-0 and eventually take all 3 points.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a weekend to remember for Kiwi sport however with some tough fixtures to come the lads will be looking to bounce back and get some much needed points on the board!

Man of the match went to Josh Wilson with an outstanding showing in the back line!
