Match Report - STANDFAST AFC - 09 Dec 2018

Kirkstyle came into this match with a change of formation to a 3-5-2 and it certainly seemed to work.

Kirkstyle went on the attack from the off with O'Keeffe and his strike partner Barry Foster coming close.

Thistles early pressure paid off in the 7th minute when Chris Callaghan released Graeme O'Keeffe to open the scoring.

It was 2-0 in the 15th minute with O'Keeffe grabbing his 2nd when Chris Foster lobbed the ball over the Standfast defence to release O'Keeffe who made no mistake.

And it was game over by 20 minutes with Barry Foster bagged his first of the day to make it 3-0.

Standfast pulled one back on the half hour mark with the only shot they managed all day beating Stand in keeper Stuart Falvey from 25 yards and crashing in off the bar for 3-1.

Barry Foster got his 2nd and Kirkstyles 4th before half time.

O'Keeffe grabbed his 3rd 5 minutes into the 2nd half for 5-1.

Kirkstyle were dominating the midfield and making chance after chance and this week they were finishing off the chances.

A run forward from centre back Calum Mcleod saw him drive into the penalty area and pick out Manof the Match Graeme O'Keeffe for his 4th of the day to make it 6-1.

Debutant Robert Mcghee came close when he cut infield towards the left beating 3 players then popping the ball back through ones legs to set himself up for a shot which dipped just over.

With Standfast tiring and the result beyond doubt Thistle made a few changes with Leaker, Patterson and Blackstock replacing McGhee, Hamill and O'Keeffe.

Rab McGuinness was next on the scoresheet when a free kick from Chris Callaghan found the big defender who had come close a few times already and this time he took it first time on the volley to put Thistle 7-1 up.

It was 8-1 with 10 minutes left when substitute Blackstock chased a ball into the box and crossed to find Barry Corner at the back post and he stepped inside his marker and fired home.

Barry Foster turned provider when he found substitute Ian Leaker outside the penalty area and with the keeper in no man's land Leaker lobbed into the empty net for 9-1.

Barry Foster was denied his hatrick twice in a couple of minutes when firstly the crossbar denied him and then a smart finish looked to have got it but the ref gave offside to deny him, with only a couple of minutes left though Foster did grab his 3rd when a ball over the top from stand in keeper Falvey released the pacy hitman and he ran through before chipping the advancing keeper to round off the scoring at 10.
