Home cup match

Rob Roy 9–0 Riverside

This truly was a game of two halves! Full credit to Riverside, who handled the early pressure well and gradually settled into the match. The first half was evenly contested, with Rob Roy showing some lovely passages of play—particularly down the right-hand side—but just lacking that final touch in front of goal. After an evenly contested game, clear-cut chances were few, and the half ended 0–0, with the possibility of a major cup upset looming.

The second half, however, was a different story entirely. The boys came out with renewed energy and intensity, and Riverside simply couldn’t keep up. The breakthrough came when Keir picked up the ball in midfield, beat his man, and threaded a superb pass through the defence for Ollie, who finished clinically.

Moments later, Ace’s relentless pressing won the ball back straight from the restart, and he made no mistake at the second attempt. Then, in a whirlwind three-minute spell, Aiden added a third after some slick build-up play, with Zach providing the assist.

Just three minutes later, we were treated to a moment of magic. Keir found Archie out wide, and from around 40 yards, Archie weaved through four or five defenders before calmly slotting home—a serious contender for goal of the season.

The goals kept coming. Keir danced through the defence and saw his goal bound shot deflect in for our fifth. Aiden then grabbed his second with another composed finish following more high pressing, and Lucas Hogg’s pinpoint through ball allowed Ollie to bag his second.

Aiden completed his hat trick after a brilliant solo run from Nathan starting deep in our own half, and Ollie matched him shortly after with a well-earned third, capping off a superb team performance.

A dominant second half sees the boys safely through to the last 64 of the Scottish Cup, with an exciting away trip to Edinburgh up next. Well done, lads!

Keir delivered a superb all-round performance, showcasing his versatility and football intelligence. He started the game at right back, where he was composed and energetic, before moving into central midfield in the second half—where he truly came into his own. Full of running, skill, and smart decision-making, Keir consistently drove the team forward, linking play and launching attacks with real purpose. He capped off his display with a well-taken goal and two assists, marking what was arguably his best performance for the team. Brilliant work, Keir!
