Colts travelled to St Andrews on a beautiful sunny day hoping to kick on from their midweek win against Muchty.
They flew out the blocks fast and some may even have missed them taken the lead. St Andrews kicked off and played the ball back with Colts pressing. A short back pass from the centre half was seized on by Dan Kenny and he rounded the keeper to finish after just 8 seconds.
Colts then went 2 up after 7 minutes when a ball forward was knocked down by Kenny to Scott Sneddon, he played a great thru-ball to Jamie Forrester who cut across the park and finished into the bottom corner.
St Andrews kept attacking and got back into it on 19 mins as a free kick was lifted to the back post, it was headed back across the goal to the striker who headed in at the back post for 2-1.
The Colts had to see out a bit of pressure for 10 minutes before on 29 minutes Kenny flicked on to Forrester who crossed to Sneddon, he took a touch and finished into the bottom corner. The game was almost over 2 minutes later as Forrester crossed to Kenny who grabbed his 2nd of the game and the Colts' 4th.
The second half kicked off and Colts took command as Sanaghan won the ball at the back and slipped a beautiful pass thru to Forrester who drove to goal and finished well for 5-1 on 49 minutes.
A flurry of substitutions didn’t disrupt the Colts and on 65 minutes Kenny completed his hat-trick as Mitchell Baldwin crossed to Callum Grindlay who knocked down for Kenny to finish. Kenny then grabbed his 4th on 68 minutes as Ryan Campbell played him through. The keeper saved the first but as the ball came back he made no mistake second time round.
The game then settled down as the players felt the heat but the Colts still had time for two more. First on 83 minutes when Baldwin won the ball on half way line, he looked up and saw the keeper of his line and sublimely lobbed him from just inside St Andrews half for 8-1.
There was still time for one more as Stapleton was taken down in the box in the last minute. Stapesy took himself and confidently stroked into the bottom corner for no 9.
A great performance which now sees the Colts play Kirkcaldy YM in the Semi Final on Tuesday night at the Myre after they overcame Leven. A big night for the Colts and a chance to make up for their loss to Kirkcaldy in the group stages.
