Football finally returned for the first game since Jamie Forrester netted what turned out to be the last goal for Fossoway AFC on March 7th, when the new Kinross Colts 'A' team made a visit to Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts at Ballast Bank.

It was quite ironic then that Forrester also now holds the record of the first scorer in the new colours of Kinross Colts, albeit today in the away kit - the rebadged Fossoway red and white stripes.

The opening 45 minutes in particular showed that the team had barely been away as they put in an excellent performance against their hosts and roared into a 2-0 lead. FORRESTER netting with a wonderful curling shot low in off the left hand post after cutting in from the left in the 15th minute.

CALLUM GRINDLAY doubled the lead in the 31st minute with an early contender of goal of the season with an excellent shot on the half-volley from over 25 yards out, cannoning in off the right hand post.

Swifts pulled a goal back with a good low finish in the 37th minute, but as the teams left the field at half time, Allan Moody and Steve Clark had every reason to feel very pleased with their side's performance.

The home side equalised right at the start of the second half as they took advantage of a strong end to end wind at their backs, before their attacker beat defender and keeper to slot past Mark Robertson to make it 3-2 to Hillfield Swifts.

There were still chances for both sides with Grindlay having a free kick go over, whilst Robertson pulled off two quick saves with his feet and then diving at full strength to his right to push out a low effort.

Overall, it was a very good performance from the new Kinross Colts side, especially encouraging considering the long-enforced Covid lockout. Many players will benefit massively from their run outs, especially the ones who got 90 minutes under their belt. The result was no disgrace and there many positives as the team look to blow off the cobwebs.
