Kill 4 Hyde Park 2 - Vere Deane Cup Section A

Kill made it 4 points from 2 games in the Vere Deane Cup section A as they overcame Hyde Park.

Leon Carroll was brought in after his impressive cameo last week and Fagan was brought in for the suspended Maguire.

A first half that lacked class as neither team could really get a grasp on the game. Hyde did open the scoring after a through ball lead to a defensive mix up between Frank Kilkelly and Sean O Connor and resulted in a penalty to Hyde. The Hyde man made no mistake with the penalty. Perhaps deservedly down at half time , Kill knew they were still in the game. They started the second half well but another defensive mix up saw Hyde doubling their lead. A quick formation change saw an almost instant reaction for Kill bar for the Hyde goalkeeper making a smart save. Leon Carroll was replaced for his name sake Stephen around the 60th minute mark. Kill broke their deadlock through talisman Power. Stephen Carroll crossed the ball and Power made no mistake with the finish. Moments later Kill were level as a corner was pinged in from Conroy, ricocheted off Kinsella and found its way to Liam O Connor who volleyed into the top corner. This was a blow to Hyde as their tempo noticeably dropped. Kill were ahead after Conroy intercepted a pass before laying the ball off to Power who again finished smartly. Some nervy moments ensued for Kill as Hyde went all out for the win. Fagan was resilient in defence, Kinsella and Cusack never stopped working. Kill sealed the win in the final few moments as a long free from Sean O connor was left by the Hyde centre back. The on rushing Liam O Connor got his brace after a smart dink over the opposition Keeper.

A good win which sees Kill well in with a chance of progressing to the 1/4 finals.

MOTM: Peter Fagan.
