Back to back 3-1 wins for Kill Celtic as they survived a difficult away trip to Clogherstown United today.

A sub laden, plush pitch awaited a Kill side which on paper looked bare. A debut was handed to Tadhg Montgomery who deputised for the ever reliable Joe Cusack and Glen Farrell came in for Stephen Carroll.

The opening stages of the game were a nervy affair with neither team stringing successive passes together. It was Kill who eventually started playing the football they were praised for last season. Alex lynch squared a menacing ball across the Clogherstown box but it was just out of reach of Farrell. Not long after this chance the first goal came. Some excellent Badgering from Farrell, Power and O connor (L) saw the Cloghestown centre back disposed and O Connors powerful shot beat the Cloghestown keeper. This goal spurred Kill on and Montgomery and Devaney started spraying the ball around. The Kill centre back pairing of Brady-Mullen and Richardson dealt with the long ball threat excellently.

Kill went into half time good value for their lead. Second half saw Clogherstown breaking down any kill momentum with late challenges. It was a soft free kick that lead to the equalising goal. A long ball punted into the box wasn't dealt with and as a result was put into the bottom corner of the kill goal. Cloghestown didn't have long to celebrate as less than 30 seconds later that man Stephen Power lashed a left foot volley into the Cloghestown net. Maguire was introduced for Farrell who ran himself into the ground. Karl announced himself into senior football by getting booked instantly. With Kill 2-1 up, Maguire and Lynch were stretching the game and Cloghestown defence. Kills third came from a counter attack. O Connor (N) won the ball from a Cloghestown corner and played the ball infront of Lynch who instantly played the ball into the feet of Power. Power burst by the Cloghestown defender and unselfishly squared to the on-rushing Lynch who calmly finished and took the 3 points home to Kill.
