Kill 2 Celbridge 1
Kill finally got back to winning ways after what seemed like an eternity.
Welcoming high flying Celbridge to Straffan Road, Kill knew they would be in for a tough afternoon but they started brightly.
Reverting to the 5-3-2 formation they looked solid in defence but even better going forward with wing backs Maguire and Carroll terrorising the celbridge defence.
Kill got an early goal after a Leon Carroll corner bobbled across the goal and was helped on by Conroy before the onrushing Devaney unleashed a fierce strike into the top corner.
Kill didn’t sit back on their lead and doubled it 5 minutes later. Leon carroll’s persistent harrying saw the celbridge player play a short passback of which Conroy gobbled up expertly.
2-0 up and Kill were great value for their lead but a sloppy corner saw Celbridge get back into the game. Celbridge began to dominate and it was clear how they have been flying this year. The HT whistle came at a good time.
Stand in manager Lynch rallied the troops and Kill started the second half with an urgency lacking at the end of the first half.
Half chances came and went but the midfield was were the possession was at. Celbridge hit the crossbar and came close from a corner. Higgins , O Connor (S) and Devaney were well marshalled by Coady in the nets. Keogh added a bit of composure to the middle and Devlin was tireless in his breaking up of play. As the ref blew the full time whistle . Kill were relieved as it adds a huge 3 points to push them away from the bottom of the table.
Massive performance and many lads were in running for MOTM but Kehoe just shades it????
