Away cup match
AIB 0 Kill 1 Vere Deane Cup section A.
Kill travelled to the impressive DCU sports ground bidding for another win in the Vere Deane section A.
Despite the match being delayed by 30 minutes due to a kit mix up from the home side, Kill started the game brightly. A dominant start saw AIB frustrated. Kinsella, Liam O connor and Cusack bossed the midfield and dictated the tempo. The first memorable moment came when Leon was thrown to the ground by an AIB player. Moments later the same player flew through the back of Carroll and deservedly received his marching orders. Down to ten men AIB had to fight hard to get anywhere near the ball. Sean o Connor, Stephen Brady Mullen and Karl Maguire were comfortable in defence. A well worked move from the defence was how the deadlock was broken. After a sequence of passes Liam O connor received the ball on the halfway line . He then played a perfect pass to Niall O Connor who played a 1-2 with Power before crossing the ball. The ball flew over Carrolls head but Conroy burst into the box and headed home . 1-0 up and Kill were cruising. Chances came and went before the HT whistle blew. A change was forced at HT as Leon Carroll had to rush to work (8 meetings today ya thicks!!) . He was replaced by Stephen Carroll who brought his electric pace into the game. Credit to AIB who had a go second half and had a few half chances but were marshalled well by the Kill backline and Kilkelly. Peter Fagan was brought on for Brady-Mullen (as he had a yellow card) then Devaney was brought on for Kinsella to sure up the defence. The game began to Lull but Conroy brought it to life with a cheeky Bolasie flick, sending the AIB defender to the chipper. Power went close twice as did Carroll but the referee blew his whistle before kill could add their second.
A win which sees the red & black through to the 1/4 finals of the Vere Deane Cup with a game to spare Saturday.

MOTM: Too hard to split between Kinsella and Conroy today. Both worthy winners
