Lions Bounce Back

After a really tough for weeks for the girls being heavily beaten in 3 out of 4 games we faced a good Halas team knowing we could compete.

We warmed up well and started the game with a very high tempo. We made a couple of changes bringing Lotte into deep holding midfield and Evie behind the front two.

We were attacking at will and playing lovely football from front to back.

We had several good chances to take the lead and then got a sucker punch when Halas scored totally against the run of play.

We kept the pressure up and had another good couple of chances from both Gracie and Scarlett. The front three of Gracie, Scarlett and Evie looked really dangerous and linked up well. The rest of the midfield and defense being positive and looking to play football we played some of the best stuff I've seen all season.

At half time we said to the girls keep confident and keep pressing and we will get back into it.

We did exactly this and Paige took a goal beautifully after a cross from Madge, 1 touch and shot into the corner.

We kept pressing and had another couple of chances and then much like the first half went behind to another rare Halas attack.

The girls kept their heads up and got a chance to get back into the game when Scarlett broke well and was pulled down for a pen. Gracie stepped up and smashed it home for 2-2

Almost immediately Halas won a penalty of their own. Their best player putting it wide.

We then had another couple of chances but couldn't find the net.

An excellent performance from all the girls today. Work rate and effort was brilliant. The passing was lovely to watch and on another day we would have won easily.
