Kibarani United FC faced off against Bantu Heroes FC at Makande Primary School on 21 June 2025, with kick-off at 4:30 pm. The match concluded with a disappointing 2-0 defeat for Kibarani, as they struggled to contain their opponents' attacking prowess.
Kibarani United adopted a 4-4-2 formation, a classic setup designed to provide a solid defensive base while allowing for quick transitions to attack. In goal, Cosmas Okumu was tasked with safeguarding the net, while the back four comprised Brian Owino on the right, Bicky Bakari and Rankie Wanjala in central defence, and Mendy on the left. The midfield featured Thomas on the right, Conteh Ombongi and Ndegwa centrally, and Joram Kimathi on the left, providing width and support to the forwards. Up front, John Odongo and Amos Mageto were positioned as the two strikers, expected to exploit any defensive lapses from Bantu Heroes.
The substitutes for Kibarani included Yobra Obizo, Sammy Kapelo, Sanday, Sele, and Deluka, all of whom were poised to make an impact as the match progressed.
As the first half unfolded, both teams appeared to be sizing each other up, with Kibarani United attempting to assert themselves but failing to create significant chances. The half ended without any goals, with the scoreline remaining level at 0-0.
The second half began with Kibarani making tactical changes, bringing on Yobra Obizo for Brian Owino, Sammy Kapelo for Conteh Ombongi, and Sanday for Thomas, all in the 56th minute. These substitutions aimed to inject fresh energy into the side and alter the dynamics of the game.
However, it was Bantu Heroes who broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with a stunning long-range strike from outside the box, leaving Okumu with little chance to respond. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in favour of the visitors, who began to dominate possession and create further opportunities.
Kibarani's frustrations grew, leading to a yellow card for Ndegwa in the 72nd minute for a bad tackle, followed shortly by another booking for Mendy in the 75th minute, as the home side struggled to contain their opponents.
In a bid to turn the tide, Kibarani made further changes in the 77th minute, introducing Sele for Amos Mageto and Deluka for John Odongo. Despite these efforts, the team found it increasingly difficult to penetrate Bantu's resolute defence.
Bantu Heroes sealed their victory in the 80th minute with a well-executed direct free-kick from outside the box, again using their right foot to find the back of the net. This second goal left Kibarani with a mountain to climb, and despite their best efforts, they could not find a way back into the match.
As the final whistle blew, Kibarani United FC were left to reflect on a disappointing performance, while Bantu Heroes celebrated a well-deserved victory. The match served as a reminder of the challenges Kibarani face in the league, as they seek to regroup and improve in their upcoming fixtures.
