Iwade Herons Rovers Triumph In High-Scoring Thriller

This week's match resulted in a well-deserved 9-6 for Rovers, our first back-to-back wins outside of a tournament. We were fast out of the blocks and showed how well we could play with some great moves between Axl and Finley, creating several chances that whistled past the post. Axl kicked off the scoring and we found ourselves 5-0 up in the first quarter with 2 from Finley (Assisted by Kaden and William) and 3 from Axl who had a penalty and a great freekick hit the back of the net. Goalkeepers Cooper and Felix also showed they were alert and ready coming to collect the ball when it was bouncing around in our box, and their passing out was great.

The second quarter was not as fruitful as Sheppey came back into the game. Their diving antics and feigning injuries were distracting our players. We went into Half time 5-2.

Rovers picked it up again in the 3rd quarter bagging 4 more goals to make it 9-2. 3 more from Axl and a great move by Cooper finished off by Freddie at the back post, who made some great runs down the wing. Pippa also went close but still awaits her first Rovers goal.

We had to dig in for the last quarter, they all worked so hard to see the game out but Sheppey did get 4 goals back, a few of them smashed from long range, the goalkeepers having no chance to save them. Proving that they couldn't play through our solid defence. It finished 9-6, everyone played so well such a great performance. Parents Player Kaden put in a great captain's performance, worked hard and supported the team, telling them where to be. Coaches Player William also worked really hard, and showed some great passing skills and awareness to cover our defence if we have pushed up a bit too far. Amazing!
