Home other match

In a lopsided encounter at Swinden Playing Fields on 1st December 2024, Inter Pro Green faced Barrowford Celtic U12 Lions in a 9-a-side match that ended in a staggering 11-2 defeat for the home side. The match kicked off at 11:15 am and, despite a promising start, Inter Pro Green struggled to contain their opponents throughout the contest.

Inter Pro Green set up in a 3-4-1 formation, with Cooper Brown donning the gloves as the goalkeeper. The defensive trio consisted of Noah Evans in central defence, flanked by Orin Earnshaw on the right and Lawy Hassan on the left. In midfield, Adil Mokaddem operated on the right, while Arlo Duxbury took up the left flank, with Jakub Caputa and Arlie Holden occupying central roles. Up front, Charlie Brown was the lone striker, tasked with leading the line and converting chances into goals.

There were no substitutes for Inter Pro Green, leaving the starting nine to bear the brunt of the match. The early stages of the game saw Inter Pro Green take a surprising lead when Lawy Hassan scored in the sixth minute, assisted by Arlie Holden. This goal gave the away side a glimmer of hope, but it was short-lived as Barrowford Celtic quickly responded.

Just four minutes later, Barrowford Celtic equalised in the tenth minute, and they followed this up with a relentless scoring spree. By the 16th minute, the visitors had taken a commanding 4-1 lead, with goals coming in quick succession. The Inter Pro Green defence struggled to cope with the attacking prowess of Barrowford Celtic, who added another goal in the 24th minute, extending their lead to 5-1.

As the first half drew to a close, Barrowford Celtic had already established a dominant position, leading 5-1 by the time the whistle blew for half-time. The second half saw little respite for Inter Pro Green, as Barrowford Celtic continued their onslaught, scoring five more goals, including a brace from their prolific forwards.

Arlie Holden managed to find the net for Inter Pro Green again in the 57th minute, but it was merely a consolation as Barrowford Celtic had already sealed a comprehensive victory by that point. The final scoreline of 11-2 reflected the visitors' dominance and left Inter Pro Green with much to ponder as they look to regroup after this heavy defeat.

It was a tough game for the boys, some struggling with match fitness, the scoreline did not really reflect the performance, some mistakes by us led to us conceding. Man of the match was given to Jakub Caputa for his committed performance throughout the game as well as Lawy Hassan for scoring an impressive goal. With new players looking likely to join our team this should create some competition for places. The hard work continues on Tuesday at training. Thanks to Barham Hassan for being linesman #GoGreens
