Finally, Insulators Reserves and Tonbridge United played out a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Ground. Despite the absence of several players due to Stag do’s, Insulators started the game with a new 3-5-2 formation and were denied an early goal which their play deserved, being denied by the crossbar after a strong headed effort from a corner. Unfortunately a lapse in concentration saw United take the lead midway through the first half with a goal by Robert Cooke. Insulators continued to press and were rewarded with a goal scored on his league debut by Mark Whorlow and the teams went into the interval level.
The second half saw a strong performance from United and Insulators had to dig deep to keep the scores level, helped in part from some excellent defending and some great saves by Dan Marks. Against the run of play, Mark Whorlow thought he had secured the points for Insulators, but was denied by the linesman’s flag.
Overall a good hard fought game on both sides with several new faces to the Insulators team Mark Whorlow, Craig Smith and Lewis Mitchell settling in well with strong performances and with players returning from their mini breaks hopefully the signs are positive for Insulator’s Reserves this season
