Home league match
Insulators Reserves welcomed Ticehurst to the Memorial Ground to kick off the home league campaign and the game started at a good pace for both teams although keeping possession for either side was proving difficult.
A couple of early saves from Dan Marks keep the scores level before a free kick was awarded to Slators after 10 minutes. Up stepped Lewis Ott to fire an unstoppable effort into the top right corner from 25 yards out.
However, the lead was short lived as a few minutes later Ticehurst equalised after a dubious decision not to flag their forward offside cost the ultimate price as the player in question ran through to score.
The rest of the half followed a similar pattern with both teams spurning chances and we went into break still level at1 all.
Insulators started the second half brightly although it was Ticehurst who took the lead after 60 minutes with a headed goal
Ticehurst started to enjoy more of the game and scored a third with 15 minutes remaining which exposed Insulators weakness of clearing their lines at times as the ball travelled across the full width of the area to find a Ticehurst player unmarked at the back post
Insulators were given a chance to get back into the game as they were awarded a penalty and free kick specialist Ott stepped up to take it. The penalty was saved and the follow up effort from Fab was missed to give momentum back to the away side.
That momentum led to a fourth goal and Ticehurst saw the game through to run out 4 - 1 victors.
As with last week Insulators faltered in the second half and failed to take enough of their own chances which has meant score lines that do not reflect the quality of the squad and some of the play.
Hopefully the players can find some confidence and start to realise what a good team we have so that we can see results improve. We couldn't pick a better game to start as we have a local derby away to Paddock Wood in the cup next weekend.
