vs AFC Borough Reserves
Away league match
After a couple of defeats, Insulators visited Crowborough, to face an AFC Borough Reserves side flying high in the league. Due to Covid and injuries this was a depleted Insulators side but with plenty of quality in the squad, they were still confident of victory
Insulators started well and dominated the opening exchanges and only some wayward finishing keeping Borough on level terms. An early injury to Nik Weedon didn’t impact the dominance and the deadlock was finally broken on 23 minutes by Harry Mascall after a great through ball from Toby Gandell
Borough came into the game a bit more and managed to break through the high line on 41 minutes to equalise and it was a level game at half time.
Both Insulators centre backs having to be replaced at half time wasn’t ideal, but the makeshift back line performed well in the second half to limit Borough to only a handful of chances.
With Craig Smith in goal excelling in his new sweeper keeper role and some smart saves, Borough weren’t able to find the back of the net
60 minutes in and Bailey Wright closed down the Borough keeper and intercepted the ball to find himself on the by line only to curl the ball into the top corner for a great finish and it was 2 1 to Insulators
Then on 63 minutes, Harry Mascall turned provider with another wonderful pass which was latched onto by Jacob Pingault who finished smartly to make it 3 for Insulators
The game was very open for the last 25 minutes but with no further goals it was Insulators who took the spoils and hopefully this will be the start of a run up towards the top end of the division.
