vs SOFA

Home friendly match

The last time we played SOFA was almost Christmas and they were then in a very inebriated state. This time, our scout said they were a much changed side. It was true as their then goalkeeper, Craig, was now deployed as a striker. A small a squad of 16 turned up and Colin had no issues naming the team as there weren't a lot of decisions anyway. Strangely enough, we had a lot of the ball after we started very late on in the evening. We stroked the ball around but made no concrete chances upfront. Instead, it was Craig, who brushed off Kenny and shot low into the bottom right corner to put SOFA in the lead. We huffed and puffed but still didn't make our chances count. Late in the 1st half, Jerome got the ball on the right and saw Harold running down the flank. He attempted to drill it into his path but hit the defender instead. He then started cursing. Probably because of his cursing, the defender somehow couldn't control it and it landed perfectly for Harold to bring it down the line. He then crossed it beautifully to Colin, who made no mistake with a side cushion into goal. Half time 1-1.

We came out into the 2nd half trying to get a win as we all knew that it was within our grasp. To cut the long story short and also because I don't remember much after 2 days, the final score was 3-1. Max got to the end of a long freekick over the top by Dave and calmly lobbed it over the keeper. Colin then made it safe with a good dash to the near post to meet Jerome's cross, similar to Jesus goal for Man City over the weekend. Other than that, Patrick missed a few by doing a Ron and the defence held firm despite some pressure from the opponents.

Again, there were some slight altercations resulting in some words exchanged and pushing. Fortunately, the opponents were also able to calm their own players down while we shouted and pulled ours aside. Please guys, let's enjoy our football. Contact is unavoidable. As long as there's no malice or intent in the foul and they apologize, move on. Like I mentioned the week before, there's always an opportunity.

See you guys next week and have fun at field camp, recruit!
