Home friendly match
As the festive period descends upon us, we struggled with numbers but somehow managed to get 15 to the game. Our opponents took one step further by drinking before the game and bringing beers to the pitch.
On the other hand, we looked more the inebriated team as we couldn’t even pass and control the ball properly. A penalty was awarded against us for a deliberate handball in the box. Their captain came up against Sherman. He did his usual thing and made a wonderful save to keep it level. We did created several chances though but it took a smelly dive from Colin to break the deadlock. Penalty was awarded and even though he took it twice, thanks to encroaching by Yiong, he opened the scoring for us. 1-0 at half time.
At halftime, Colin was encouraging us to be more decisive. No issue with the opponents as they were decisive in opening cans of beers for refreshments.
We continued to create more chances but failed to convert. Courtesy of the drunk goalkeeper, Colin got the ball on the left side and with an empty goal, he shot into the side netting. We were also battled at the back as the opponents created their own chances. It was either saved by Sherman or they just shot wide, aiming for the beer cartons instead. Another chance fell to Colin and with the goal gaping either left or right, he missed. Then a comedy moment. Sherman sent the ball long. It missed everyone. Patrick came for the ball and with the goal at his mercy, he misheaded the ball into air. The goalkeeper aka Santa Claus, helped him out and somehow flicked the ball into goal without any pressure. The opponents can actually see the funny side of that. We were comfortable and Jerome got a free kick on the left. A cross in and Santa Claus flapped at it. The ball came to Henry and lashed it into the net. Luckily, Pat was smart enough to dodge it on the goal line. Game then ended 3-0 to us.
We were gifted by the opponent who definitely wasn’t in the best shape to play against us. We took our chances well but I feel that we could have done better. Let’s end the year with a big win next week.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
