We Were Once Young Too

<p>1st game since the completion of our league games last week. It's been a while since we last played a 3pm game, and we were greeted with a scorching heat from the start. Turnout is bad today, with just enough players to start the game.

<p>Our opponents today are a bunch of 'kids", with a majority of them playing for Balestier Tigers (youth) and Singapore Poly students. Though they were young and fast, we managed to cope with them for most of the game, and conceded 2 goals from corners in the 1st half.

<p>They switched some players in the 2nd half and definitely look stronger than the starting 11. However, a rare piece of team play saw us pull a goal back. SK passed the ball out from defence to Jan, who flicked it to Damian. With one touch, he sent the ball down the flank for Nick to cross it 1st time into the box. Harold escaped his marker, controlled the ball and blasted an unstoppable shot into the top corner. We were encouraged by the goal, and almost got an equalizer within minutes. A slide rule pass fooled their defence but Yiong's placement just went wide of the post. It was a pity, and almost immediately on a counter attack, they regained their 2 goal advantage.

<p>It was 4-1, when Sherman scored an unlucky own goal. Our guest player, Fazril was one of the players who shone in the game, and he was rewarded with a goal from a corner, which he tapped in off near post.
