2nd game in our comeback season after Covid sees us heading to Pasir Ris Sec again. We were just there a couple of weeks ago for our 1st ever game, although internal, since Covid halted all our exercises. When we saw that the team was kitted in Barcelona gear, we should have known that it was going to be tiki taka against us. For the record, we did lose 5-0 to them some time in Nov 2019.
Manager decided to lower his expectations and stated that anytime better than a 3-0 loss is a great win for the day. So we started with new signing, Eugene, in defence and Oct in goal. Within 20 minutes, we were 3-0 down and I guess it couldn’t have been worse. We did create chances though. Max fired over the cross bar. Pat stood on the goal line and literally headed the post and the ball at the same time. Max couldn’t round the keeper after picking on a loose ball.
2nd half was much better. We scored with a long range cracker from Harold and then he fed Andy through who rifled it into the top corner. Harold then hit the post again. But then Fire FC broke away twice and scored. All goals giving Oct NO CHANCE. Final score 5-2. Still a 3 goals deficit which the manager conceded that it was a good result.
In my opinion, we did great. Playing some nice passing game and involving a lot more of the ball than we used to. We will get better as the games come under the belt.
