Before I start on what happened in the game yesterday, I would like to say this. We are all very fortunate to enjoy the generous touch of our sponsors for our kit. In my opinion, wearing the proper kit serves not only as appreciation to them but also a sense of pride and respect in playing for Incepcion. Anyway, back to the game.
Playing against Bolton again this week and there was a chance to chock up 5 wins in a roll. Equaling our best record of straight victories. Despite this, the manager made a decision to give more game time to players who haven’t been playing regularly. While we retained possession and passed the ball easily, we didn’t really create much chances in the first half. And when we did, the opponent goalkeeper was on hand to stop them. Most notable thing of the half was Pat’s crossing. It was, what they say, terrible. The closest we came was when Max chipped a ball and the goalkeeper actually managed to get his fingers to it and hit the cross bar. Half time 0-0.
Manager was concerned. He highlighted the winning streak during the half time team talk and encouraged all of us to work harder. He then made a few changes to the team and the second half began.
The second half was pretty much the same. We were definitely the better team. Bolton were all about parking the bus as they only had 12 players. But it took a defensive mistake for us to open the scoring. Pikachu played a through ball in the middle for Colin. The goalkeeper rushed out and it should have been his. But he somehow missed it and Colin had the easy task of slotting it into an empty goal. We created so much more chances. Colin headed wide from a useful cross from Pat (finally). And the goalkeeper made a lot of crucial saves, diving all over the place and getting his gloves to a lot of them. The opponents were tiring. But that still didn’t stopped them from creating chances as well. A block on the goal line by SK kept them from levelling. Max decided to take matters into his own hands. He dribbled through the middle. Got to a short pass from Colin. Skipped past a few defenders and walloped the ball into the top left hand corner with his left foot. We scored our third goal with an own goal. An unfortunate one scored by their keeper. Pat had all the time in the world and smashed it onto the cross bar. The ball came back down and hit the goalkeeper’s back and went in. Despite his best efforts to claim the goal, we will give it as an own goal. Richard was outstanding on the right. Delivering quality crosses into the box which many were not taken. One such cross was messed up by the goalkeeper and Pikachu picked it up and slammed it home for our 4th goal. Full time 4-0. And we equaled our record.
A good 2nd half to gain the victory. It’s seldom that we get to play like this. I’m sure everyone enjoyed it. See you guys next week.
