Another great result for the lads and as Lewis has mentioned fantastic second half keeps the good run going! ????
I actually thought we started pretty well in the first half as well. Freddie putting us ahead with a right footed half volley into the bottom corner (Are we sure he is left footed?). We then lost our way and our heads with the lads arguing with each other contributing to us going in 3-1 down at the break. ??
We spoke at half time about togetherness and being a team. We had lost Hugo to an ankle injury but they were still warned any negative comments to each other would mean they come off and we play a player down. It was going to be tough but we wanted high energy, high press and show what we can do on the ball. ??
The boys delivered just that in the second half, right from the off we were all over them in terms of pressing, winning the ball and getting up the pitch. This was rewarded quickly with Freddie pouncing on a rebound and rocketing one in from distance with his left foot (maybe he is left footed afterall!). The confidence came and the lads kept going, we won a corner which Rehan scored directly from before Elliot (who didn’t stop battling) won a free kick. We worked last night on where we should stand for free kicks and was good to see the lads trying it, to be fair on this occasion it didn’t matter as Rehan smashed it into the top corner with a super strike. Rehan then turned provider with a great through ball and Tommy getting the goal his second half efforts deserved. What a turn around from the boys and in this time Cheadle had barely got into our half. We conceded a late goal but hung on for a fully deserved win! ??
All the lads should be proud of that second half and we need to carry that into the last few games to end the season on a high. ????
Rehan was today’s man of the match - 2 great goals and brilliant assist as well. But just as impressive was his work rate, getting stuck in and giving everything he could to the team. Great performance and well deserved MOM ??
