The undefeated start to the season comes to an end after a frustrating game ??.
First half we started so slow, the lads were not on it and were too passive with their challenges and passes which was surprising to see. Ultimately it took for West End to score for us to wake up and when they did there were glimpses of the team I know they can be. Teddy first set up Tommy who scored a good goal from distance which went in off the post. Not long after Hugo found a bit of space and played in Tommy for him to get his second with a tidy finish shortly after. ??
At half time we discussed being more confident with what we were doing, connecting with our passes and expressing themselves. ??
We started better but West End came level after a ridiculous penalty decision. Their player kicked Teddy with both getting a whack on the shin and the ref gave the pen which they scored. The lads reacted well and we created some good opportunities which we couldn’t quite take (someone told me Elliot’s effort from the corner went over the line but I don’t know?). As we pushed for the winner we didn’t clear our lines and West End got the winner with the last kick of the game.???????
As I said at the top, frustrating game in many areas. I know we are better than that and need the lads to put full effort in at training and on match days to get us back to winning ways.????
Oscar captained us really well today and was solid in defence. His choice for Captains player was Cameron who was always trying to get on the ball and make something happen. The managers player was Tommy for his 2 goals and energy in pressing from the front. Well done to both!??
There is no game next week but training will be on as normal. Have a good weekend and see you all Friday.
