Hyde United Vs Waterloo Girls (4-1)

We progress in the cup in a hard fought game. ??

We started quite slow today with a fair few of the team looking unsure how to play against an all girls team. They quickly realised that they were physical and we would have to battle to get the result. We grew into the game and pressed better as the half went on and took the lead late on in the first half. Teddy reacted well and was first to the ball hitting a long ball towards goal for Hugo to chase down. It took a deflection of the defence and went in for a goal Teddy will claim. We got a bit more control on the game after this and started playing the football we are capable of with good combinations nearly working for a second. ??

At half time we discussed how we had to battle, be first to the ball and match the physicality.????

Thankfully those words were taken on and we were better, we got our second when Henry went for the near post corner routine and after a bit of a scramble it broke to Tommy who finished well. Waterloo pulled one back from a long clearance that looped over Elliot. We could have got nervy but get working and regained our 2 goal lead. Elliot battling down the right before his pass for Tommy deflected to Henry who finished nicely into the corner. Tommy added his second and put the game to bed not long after reacting really well to finish from a tight angle. ??

Good result and through to the next round of the cup well done boys. Shout out to the lads that went in net today (Tommy, Elliot and Cameron) thought all did really well. ??

Tommy had a great game as captain and chose Hugo for captains player for the work he put in up front. Chasing down and being a nuisance which created the first 2 goals. The managers player was Elliot. Working hard throughout and met the physicality head on to get us up the pitch and create chances. Well done to both. ??
