In a disappointing league encounter on 5th April 2025, Huntingdon Town U12 Whites faced a formidable Sawtry Colts U12 Blue Sox side at their opponents' home ground. The match, which kicked off at 9:30 am, ended in a resounding 6-1 defeat for the visitors, leaving them to reflect on a challenging performance.

Huntingdon Town set up in a 3-4-1 formation, with Noah White guarding the goal. The defensive trio comprised Samuel Davids on the right, Henry Smith in the centre, and Josh Cooke on the left. In midfield, Will Stewart operated on the right, with Magnus Kristensen and Jack Edwards in central roles, while Roman Lawrence Alexander took up position on the left. George Smith led the line as the striker, tasked with converting chances into goals. The substitutes for the match included Jacob Wyatt, Stefan Maresi, and Sam Godfrey.

The match began with an early attempt from Samuel Davids, who fired wide within the first minute, signalling Huntingdon's intent. However, it was Sawtry Colts who struck first, finding the net in the 10th minute with a close-range effort that left Noah White with no chance. The home side quickly doubled their lead just three minutes later, converting a direct free-kick with precision.

Huntingdon struggled to regain their composure as Sawtry continued to dominate. In the 20th minute, the Colts added a third goal, again from close range, before extending their lead to four in the 24th minute, with another well-placed shot inside the box.

In a tactical reshuffle, Huntingdon made three substitutions in the 25th minute, bringing on Sam Godfrey, Stefan Maresi, and Jacob Wyatt, hoping to inject fresh energy into the team. The first half concluded with Sawtry firmly in control, leading 4-0 at the break.

The second half saw a glimmer of hope for Huntingdon as Jack Edwards converted a penalty just one minute after the restart, bringing the score to 4-1. However, this moment of joy was short-lived, as Sawtry responded swiftly, scoring their fifth goal in the 36th minute, once again from close range.

Huntingdon continued to push forward, with Henry Smith attempting a shot that went high in the 48th minute, but they were unable to find the back of the net again. Sawtry Colts sealed their emphatic victory with a sixth goal in the 52nd minute, further emphasising their dominance throughout the match.

Despite the heavy defeat, Huntingdon Town U12 Whites will look to regroup and learn from this experience as they prepare for their next challenge.
