The Hunters faced off against Needingworth at Millfields on 1st February 2025, with kick-off at 9:30 am.
The match concluded with a scoreline of 3-1 to Needingworth.
In a 3-4-1 formation, Huntingdon Town deployed Noah White in goal, with a defensive trio comprising Henry Smith at central defender, flanked by Samuel Davids on the right and Reuben Zimmermann on the left.
The midfield was anchored by Sam Godfrey and Roman Lawrence Alexander in central roles, while Will Stewart and Stefan Maresi operated as right and left midfielders respectively.
Up front, George Smith led the attack as the lone striker, tasked with converting chances into goals.
There were no subs today.
As the match commenced, Huntingdon Town sought to assert their presence early on.
In the 8th minute, Stefan Maresi made a promising attempt but his shot went wide, signalling the intent of the away side.
Shortly after, George Smith also tried his luck but his effort similarly failed to find the target, leaving the scoreline unchanged.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Needingworth Colts struck first with a long-range effort that found the back of the net, putting the home team ahead.
Huntingdon Town responded with determination, but Will Stewart's attempt in the 28th minute also went wide, reflecting their struggles to convert opportunities into goals.
As the first half drew to a close, the score remained 1-0.
The second half began with renewed hope, and just three minutes in, Roman Lawrence Alexander levelled the match in the 33rd minute.
Following a short pass from Sam Godfrey, Alexander unleashed a left-footed strike from outside the area that found the net through the keepers legs.
In this second half it was all one way traffic as Town were camped in the home teams half.
But in the 42nd minute, they restored their lead with a close-range header from a corner.
Despite our best efforts to equalise once more, we kept on pushing to create clear-cut chances in the latter stages of the match.
From this pressing and pressure Needingworth hit us again to make it 3-1.
Town went down to 8 players toward the end of the game as one came off with an injury.
As the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 3-1, leaving The Hunters to reflect on a match filled with missed opportunities and lessons learned.
Reuben Zimmermann was recognised for his commendable performance, earning the accolade of Player of the Match amidst a challenging encounter.
