Hove Lawns 1 - 1 The View (The View Win 5-4 On Pens)

Hove Lawns are out of the Ron Pavey Sussex Sunday Bowl after a frustrating morning at Wish Park.

As usual a slow start meant we struggled to find our rhythm and The View missed a few good chances early on. We improved as the half went on but despite a couple of chances our way nothing much happened in the first half and the sides went in level.

We took the lead 5 minutes into the second half when Jack's through ball saw Dan through one on one with the goalie and slotting through his legs.

The View hit back 5 minutes later with a shot from the edge of the box. From memory, I think that might have been their only shot in target in the second half

We improved second half with the substitutes definitely improving us in key areas and in particular enabling us to switch formations to take full control of the midfield.

In the last 20 minutes we must have had 4 or 5 big chances to grab the winner with the ball whizzing around their box as their defence scrambled to clear time after time.

Game went to penalties with The View coming out on top

All in all we weren't ourselves today. Perhaps the change of formation hurt us a little and took time to get used to but we were still the better side and should have won the game. Chance to respond next week boys

Man of the match: Despite some of the negatives, Brian Byrne was excellent all morning. He protected the defence and barely misplaced a pace. Clearly my man of the match today
