Home league match

In what can only described as a true Sunday League style game, The Lawns came from behind to earn a point against Tally Ho.

On a pitch that had dealt well with the overnight rain, the Lawns started sluggishly and found themselves 2 goals down against a spirited Tally Ho. But on 43 minutes, The Lawns mounted the comeback, and from a Joe Ringwood throw, Ben Lenton flicked the ball on over the keeper to get one back. This was quickly followed by a reckless challenge from the Tally Ho keeper who took Jack out in the box, and then he stepped up to smash home the penalty to make it 2-2 at the break.

The Lawns came out looking for more goals, but a dubious call by the referee lead to a penalty being given against the Lawns, which thankfully was sent skyward over the bar. The Lawns then went back up the other end and won another penalty, which Jack again duly dispatched to give the Lawns the lead. It seemed to be going the way of the Lawns, with Tally Ho having a man sent off for kicking out at Lewis, but Tally Ho rallied, firstly equalising with a freekick that sailed past Rich, and then re-took the lead with a well taken finish. The Lawns though were determined not to be on the loosing end again, and birthday boy Adam Tighe scored with a wonderful finish to make it 4-4 and send the Lawns home with a share of the points.

Lineup: Rich; Calum, Lewis, Joe R, Stew (Joe JM '45); Josh, Ben L, Gav, Matt P, Jack (Adam T '64); Craig

Man Of The Match: Jack - With two well taken penalties and running that continually troubled the opposition back line and dealing with some rough tackling, Jack was a deserving winner.

Managers Thoughts: While I am pleased that we got a point out of the game, there is still a lot of work to be done. A lot of the time we were dis-organised, we don't talk enough on the pitch, not going in for challenges and particularly in the first half, we left a lot of space between the defence and the midfield, which was regularly exploited. We are still scoring goals and we did play some nice football so hopefully we can continue that and stop making the silly mistakes which have dogged us for the last two games. Onwards and upwards chaps, UP THE LAWNS
