Hove FC 2 - 0 Hove Lawns

Lawns lost to Hove with a bare 11 after a late pull out and 2 no shows but this should not detract from the effort that everyone put in this morning.

Hove had most of the possession for the first half an hour as Lawns struggled to keep the ball. Although Hove had the possession they couldn't convert this into goals. Lawns were organised in defence and restricted them to half chances. Lawns got into the game in the last 15 mins when Lee was put through down the left, he got his shot off under pressure but this was saved by the on rushing keeper. Luke had a good shot deflected picking up a loose ball from a corner. Sam went for the spectacular attempting a bicycle kick which went wide just before half time.

The second half didn't start well for Lawns as Hove scored within the first few minutes. Lawns lost the ball in midfield and then failed to clear in the box allowed a close range shot to beat Craig. From then on Lawns were on the back foot for most of the half as Hove continued to probe the Lawns goal. Craig's saves kept Lawns in the game but his and Lawns luck ran out after a loose ball in the box was lifted over him and crept under the bar. A tactical change saw Lewis swap places with Sam which saw Lawns push forward a little more and with some added aggression. However Lawns didn't create anything in the second half to trouble their keeper.

As the game fizzled out a scuffle ensued after Brian accidentally kicked a player who seemed to fall in front of him as he was running.

MOM: There a few candidates for MOM today;

Luke: as always working hard in midfield breaking up play and trying to create opportunities

Lewis: Marshalling the back and putting in those much needed big tackles.

But Brian gets it this week for his tireless running all game and all over the pitch all the more impressive by the fact that he arrived back this morning from a stag weekend in Amsterdam.
