Home league match
Hove Lawns lost their first league game since early October with a largely under par performance against their Hove rivals this morning at Wish Park.
We were on the back foot early on after their centre midfielder scored from 30 yeards but despite Jack Judd levelling with a header 5 minutes later, 2 further goals saw us go in behind at the break and probably deservedly so.
A half time sub followed by 2 early second half substitutions and a change in system freshened us up a bit and we were probably the better side for the next 30 minutes despite having few clear chances on goal.
Against the run of play the visitors scored from an incorrectly awarded free kick and the game was out of reach.
Luke Mitchell scored a decent goal from the edge of the box with 5 minutes to play but as we pushed up Hove scored on the break and it was game over.
It is always disappointing to lose but conceding 5 for the second game in a row is unusual considering how tight we had been in the four or five games prior.
We had plenty of players playing with injuries today and with several regulars unavailable it meant we had to field a changed line up yet again which didn't help. However, I felt some were not up to usual standards today and it hindered us a bit.
Despite all that we are still in a good position in the league and collectively we know we are better than what we are producing right now. We just need to go and show it.
Man of the match: Adam Tighe gets this ahead of Lewis Moynan for the energy and determination showed throughout the 90 minutes. Adam created several chances that could have turned the game for us.
