A depleted, brave battling Hove were undone by their stronger opponents this morning at a muddy Waterhall
With many regular first team players missing Hove started with yet again a changed line up. Despite this the organisation was good as the opponents were frustrated they could not play through and found themselves playing aimless long balls that were comfortably dealt with.
The breakthrough for Hangover came around 20 minutes in when their midfielder volleyed in at the near post. Hove kept their heads up and started putting pressure on with a series of free kicks and corners. Around the half hour mark Hove were awarded a penalty for a blatant push. Unfortunately Adam blazed over from the spot. The remainder of the half was uneventful.
Second half started in similar fashion but Hangover extended their lead scoring a rebound. Adam reduced the deficit with a free kick from 35 yards but as Hove grew tired Hangover scored their third and forth.
Jonny replied for Hove with 10 minutes to go with a fantastic individual goal dribbling through 6 / 7 of their players. However, it wasn’t enough and the game petered out with Hangover kicking out off the ball and hurling abuse at the Hove players. Their captain saw red in the dying minutes and deservedly so.
Man of the match: Lewis Moynan. Close call as the defence stood strong throughout but Lewis won so many headers and duels that he is a well deserving winner.
Overall, despite the result, we should be happy with the effort this morning. Everyone ran their socks off to try and get something out of the game but it wasn’t to be. Can’t fault the effort over the past couple of games lads. A million times better than we showed during our run of losses late last year.
