Home league match
A damp start at Hartletts Park for the double-header of home fixtures, with CPR as the first opposition.
Focus and attitude was the point of order, and the need to clear the lines with more urgency especially when inside the box. Other than that, the players were urged to play their own game and move the ball around.
The first 10 minutes were great; move the ball around they did, and a wonderful move ended with the ball tapped/volleyed in from 2 yards. Great start. Then CPR clearly changed their game and went more direct. A physical but fair team, they clearly were not going to give in. They worked very well and pinned Hook back for huge periods... how they didn't score in the first half is beyond me. A great save from C N and a few wayward shots was all there was in it.
The second half started very quickly with the lead extended within 1 minute of the restart. However, Hook switched off (enjoying the lead??) and CPR responded within 48 seconds with a rather cheap offering from Hook who stood and watched the ball in the box...
CPR pretty much dominated the rest of the match with resolute defending from the 2 defenders and a couple of good blocks from the 'keeper ensuring they remained shut out other than a very good header from a corner! That said, a 2-2 result against a very capable, very big team is a result for Hook to be proud of.
