A chilly start, and a late manager(!!), at Kennels Lane for the Tigers’ first match in 3 weeks, against Fleet Spurs Dynamos. The pitch looked good, firm and flat, certainly lending itself to the Tigers’ style of play.

From the start, the Tigers looked to try and take the initiative to the Dynamos, with their intent quite obvious. Unfortunately, too many ‘lightweight’ endeavours, both in their passing and desire to pick up the second balls, meant the Tigers made Fleet’s life too easy, and subsequently their own lives difficult. A lot of good work to win possession was often followed by cheap giveaways resulting in the Tigers remaining on the back foot.

Despite this, first blood went to the Tigers when some quick, positive play saw T L control and cross the ball early in to the centre for T B to eventually smash home. 1-0 Tigers.

The second half looked more promising with the Tigers more progressive in their play. Winning more second balls and moving the ball more positively. Unfortunately, a reversion to the under-confident play seen in the first half, gifted Fleet an equaliser, followed quickly by another goal from a solid corner. 2-1 Fleet.

Overall, the Tigers’ effort was good. There were just too many occasions where they reverted to early-season ‘timidness’ in their build up and lacked the assertive/aggressive approach getting forward they have demonstrated late last season and since the Christmas break.

Top communicator went to B E as he, yet again, demonstrated a constant, constructive dialogue to his team mates, in a number of situations.

MoM went to O M. Not just today but over a number of weeks he has been a sound, constant performer, ensuring the basics are covered. He remains calm in many situations, gets his head up so well when looking for options, and is the most improved (and consistent) user of his weaker foot, such that he is fantastically comfortable to use it whenever he needs to.
