Home league match

Only 5 league matches remained before tonght's game with Velocity we hope to see a more determined effort in the final 4 matches as we were 2nd best in every area of the pitch against a Velocity side who gave 100% for the whole 70 mins.

Velocity could really have been out of sight by half time but their striker missed 3 golden opportunities by blazing his shots well over the bar however, Velocity did take the lead on 27 mins when when had a lapse at the back and gifted them the lead. Before the goal, both teams seemed to cancel each other out but once the goal went in, our heads dropped a little and Velocity's confidence grew.

In second half we changed formation as we looked for a goal to get back into the game and we did get the equaliser in unfortunate circumstances when Mete's strike took a deflection off a Velocity player which took the ball beyond the keeper's reach 1-1. From here I'd hoped the lads would go on to grab another goal but it was Velocity who still looked stronger and more determined throughout the half and they added 3 more goals to seal the win. No-one could argue with the result as our opponets fully deserved the 3 pts, I just feel a bit disappointed as we all know the lads can play a lot better than this & tonight they just didn't look up for the physical battle.

Man of the match - Elliot - one of the few who gave 100% tonight, he was alert, strong and determined, well done mate.......just a pity we didn't get the same from the whole squad but that's kids football, they can be brilliant one week and then not so good the following week.

Well, no more league games for two weeks but it's probably a welcome break & we can now look forward to the Filey Tournament next weekend
