Well... i had wrote a long match report but i deleted somehow! So below is a player synopsis of how everyone played. Suffice to say i thought we were excellent. Not as free flowing with the ball as we usually are but were superb as a team unit and really dug in against a very good team.
Especially pleasing given the injuires we have and that we have lads playing hurt and out of position. My previous match report had a breakdown of the two goals, for those not there walkers was like Zidanes in the champs league final and Sean was like Stan Collymores winner in the first 4-3 agaisnt Liverpool.
Lots to play for between now and the end of the season - i think we can only get better.
Joe Slade's punishment for not showing up is £5 fine plus before the next game in the changing rooms he needs to sing Slade's Merry Christmas everyone - the full version. in a Santa or Elves costume which he must turn up at the game in.
Player by player review:
Wadds: Couple of excellent saves but most impressive thing was his commanding of the area. No chance with the goal
Cieran: Excellent second half. Tough tackling and nice on the ball
Phillip: Tough tackling and didnt think the ball was a bomb mostly. Only got caught out of position once, nice game.
Ramma: Read the game superbly and a great foil for Ross at centre half. Class act.
Ross: Took one for the team and was quite frankly superb. Lead the back four and never lost a tackle/header - quality on the ball too.
Woody: All over the park - energy vital to our closing down as a team. First touch was good today too, wish i could say the same about his shooting.
Elliott: Class act, unlucky not to get man of the match, took some bruising tackles in midfield too.
Appaz: More of a holding role than he's used to but really played well for the team and did a lot of work of the ball and dug in for 90 mins. Quality on the ball too.
Murta: Quiet first half but unplayable second. Two assist and unlucky not to have a third (Hi Frank)
Sean: Class on the ball as always but workrate was impressive today too,. Great goal
Walker: Played with a fever and you could tell he was lethargic at time but did a great job as always for the team. Great goal
Flem: Injured but still did a great job at right back, playing out of position.
Frank: Really impressed with hold up play and his work rate when he came on. Set up a couple of chances and unlucky murta's cross took a bobble or he would have scored.
